MRSA and Institutions

A few years ago I had MRSA. It took a couple of years to even figure out what was wrong with me. Since it was an ear infection -- that kept going, and going, and going, no one could determine what I "really" had. So many rounds of creams, antibiotics… and much pain.

Meanwhile, the school where I worked, had a few MRSA outbreaks. Also, the school district in general. We received an "official" notice from the district that, if we had MRSA, to notify the district. Which I did. I emailed the district, saying I had MRSA, and what was the next step. No reply, other than a "Oh, that's a good quesiont…" but nothing after that. Meanwhile, the district is closing down some schools in order to sanitize them, etc. Well…

After trips to the ER, various health providers, I went to a ENT specialist. He couldn't figure it out either. Back to the ER. And again. Finally, a nurse in the ER asked me if I had ever been swabbed for MRSA. I said I didn't think so. So she did, and, yep. I had MRSA.

So back to this ENT guy. Who never had tested me for MRSA. I was furious, and frustrated, as I wrote him in a letter. He answered me, saying all kinds of CMA (covering my ass) excuses. Yeah.

I found it interesting that this same doctor is the "official" doctor for the district when it comes to hearing and other ear and sinus related issues. Hmm…

"Paranoia runs deep . . . " not that there's anything wrong with that. Wake UP!
