City Cracks Down On 9-Year-Old For Opening Free Library In His Front Yard | ThinkProgress

Cities shutting down front yard vegetable gardens, and now it seems that reading violates some type of code: City Cracks Down On 9-Year-Old For Opening Free Library In His Front Yard | ThinkProgress.

The Little Free Library Movement is something that has taken off in a big way; we have a few here in my city of Eugene. It's world wide. Something I've been considering doing myself. A wonderful idea. But, not according to the bureaucrats in Leawood, Kansas. What a great message to send to a young boy who loves reading -- hassle him for wanting to do something free and positive for his community that involves learning and facilitating reading.

The article says there were complaints, if true, that's as scary as the city bureaucrats who insist the library is an "unattached structure." Who in their right mind would complain about a free library?

Spencer, the young boy who is working to keep the library, has a Facebook page to generate support and convince Leawood to stop being ridiculous bureaucrat clowns.
