Milk Producers Want Artificial Sweetners in Milk, and No Labeling

Artificial Sweeteners in Milk? | Yahoo! Health

In a petition filed with the FDA, the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) seek to change the definition of “milk” so that chemical sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose can be used as optional ingredients not listed on the product label.
If the petition—originally filed in 2009 and now under consideration by the FDAis successful, these hidden additives could also be included in 17 other dairy productsincluding whipping cream, low-fat and non-fat yogurt, eggnog, sweetened condensed milk, sour cream, and half-and-half—without requiring any special labeling.

Drones Large and Small Coming to US - Yahoo! News

And there's more (see post below)

Drones Large and Small Coming to US - Yahoo! News: Most of the drones that have begun to appear in the skies above the U.S. homeland don't resemble the Predators or Reapers flown by the U.S. military and CIA above Afghanistan and Pakistan. Instead, these smaller versions of flying, unmanned vehicles almost rival the animal kingdom in their diversity.

Government agencies such as NASA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection operate aircraft-size military drones that take off from runways like airplanes. Labs in the United States have even built tiny drones that look like hummingbirds. But most drones resemble the radio-controlled aircraft and toy helicopters flown by hobbyists for decades, capable of taking off horizontally, vertically or by being thrown into the air like a trained falcon or hawk.

Meteor sparks rumors, conspiracy theories in Russia - World News

From Meteor sparks rumors, conspiracy theories in Russia - World News:
A U.S. weapon test?
In the political realm, Russian Liberal Democrat leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who is known for his controversial statements, blamed the blast not on a meteor, but on the United States testing a new weapon.

“You’re like some primitive tribe. What meteorite?” he said, according to RT.com. “When something falls – it’s man-made. People are warmongers and provocateurs.”

And little earthquakes in Tonopah,Nevada (proving grounds) right after N. Korea's test -- does give one to pause. Oh, and a 6.6 yesterday in Druzhina, Russia.

DHS watchdog: DHS can search all your devices within 100 mi of US border - Boing Boing

DHS watchdog: DHS can search all your devices within 100 mi of US border - Boing Boing: The DHS office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties -- a watchdog that's supposed to keep the DHS in check -- has concluded that it's fine for the DHS to stop anyone within 100 miles of the US border, without any suspicion or warrant, and search all the data on all their devices. But they won't say why:

Ayn Rand: Queen of the Universe

The Incredibly Insensitive Things The Disconnected Fools Say:
Idaho State Senator John Goedde, who chairs that state Senate’s Education Committee, introduced a bill this week that would require all students to read Ayn Rand’s book “Atlas Shrugged” before they can graduate. Goedde explained that the book made his son a Republican and that it “certainly gives one a sense of personal responsibility.”
That item is from truthout's Thom Hartman and Sam Sacks article on this madness. They remind us of what corporations are, and who they serve:

Ayn Rand: Queen of the Universe: As Harry Moser, the founder of the Reshoring Initiative, argued in The Economist, “Corporations are not created by the shareholders or the management. Rather they are created by the state. They are granted important privileges by the state (limited liability, eternal life, etc). They are granted these privileges because the state expects them to do something beneficial for the society that makes the grant. They may well provide benefits to other societies, but their main purpose is to provide benefits to the societies (not to the shareholders, not to management, but to the societies) that create them.”

Sadly, this understanding of how democratic republics work - and why - has been lost this generation.

And Ayn Rand’s disciples are making sure the next generation never finds it again.

One way that's happening is proposals like Senator John Goedde's.
