While in Vegas, wanting to by the issue of Rolling Stone with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover, the sales clerk told writer David Phillips that "we aren't carrying that issue." Like so many outlets across the U.S. this current issue of Rolling Stone is not being sold. Which prompts Phillips to ask, "Are We Really This Stupid?" Sadly, we are. Knee jerk self-righteous chest thumping.
Outrage Over The Rolling Stone Outrage: Are We Really This Stupid? | The Big Slice: Walk down the Vegas strip far enough and you are bound to see 5-6 illegal activities taking place during your trek. And here’s the thing: for the most part, no one cares. Hell, that’s just Vegas. However, it appears that even the Las Vegas airport (which is part casino, part gift shop, part actual airport, and all tourist trap) is not immune to knee jerk overreaction.
For the most part, the complaints about the RS cover story have had very little to do with the article within, but have been almost singularly focused on the cover itself and the rather handsome appearance of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Apparently, Tsarnaev is so handsome that it actually offends people. To this I would ask, what was Rolling Stone supposed to do? Airbrush him uglier?
