PressTV - US school district votes guns for janitors to protect students

Following the nation's thread of paranoid concern and focus on the wrong issues, another school has voted to arm school personnel.

School board voted to arm custodians. Don't worry, they'll have a "2 day training." Parents were not asked for input. It's not clear from this news item if custodians can opt out; in other words, is this voluntary? Either way, they are required to purchase their own firearms. I assume the training is paid for by the district.

PressTV - US school district votes guns for janitors to protect students: n a message to parents on the school district's website, Superintendent Jamison Grime announced that the school board decided, in a 5-0 vote, to arm staff in order to "substantially enhance and strengthen our security efforts."

According to local reports, school janitors, all men, will buy their own guns. Teachers and others with direct supervision of students, however, will not be armed.

Amid concerns that the decision was made without parental input, Grime further noted that the cleaning staff will not begin carrying guns until they complete a “two-day course” in March.
