The Office of the Director of National Intelligence live-tweeted Thursday’s launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and throughout the course of the ordeal made no effort to ignore the logo for the NROL-39 mission.
The latest spy satellite to be sent into orbit by the NRO can be recognized by its seal: a malevolent octopus with furrowed brows that also happens to be wrapping its tentacles around all corners of the Earth.

Another "Drill" this time in North Carolina

This has been going on for some time, in the UK, (teacher "killed" in front of students, the start of WWIII complete with bombing sounds and sirens as students were led down to the basement to hide, fake UFO crashes with dead alien body parts strewn about, students told to get ready because the cops were coming to take them away since their parents didn't want them anymore, masked gunmen breaking into a dorm on an overnight camping trip,students rushed onto school buses and driven around for hours without explanation of why or where they're going ...) here's one from just about a month ago, in North Carolina. All these fake drills are done under the bullshit label of "enrichment" --- to facilitate creative writing, or critical thinking, or, in this case, "good citizenship" and "observational" skills. Dupes are
the teachers, who are stupid beyond belief to take part, but fall into the line of swallowing mandated curriculum. Remember, often -- more often than not -- parents and students, and many times, most of the school staff, are not notified before hand of these drills.

Police perform "simulated drug raid" on 5th graders; child attacked by police dog -- Puppet Masters -- Sott.net: With the goal of "educating the Clay County fifth-graders on drug awareness," police crashed into a simulated party to search the attendees for narcotics. The children involved were told to hold very still while they were searched by police and their K-9.

Brazil Police Chief Clint McQueen revealed that police deliberately planted drugs on an 11-year-old boy in order to make the raid appear more realistic. According to the Brazil Times:
McQueen said a very small amount of illegal drugs were hidden on one of the juveniles to show how the dogs can find even the smallest trace of an illegal substance. He added all this was done "under exclusive control and supervision of members of the court and law enforcement."

Beamed and Called: Violent Events in D.C.

     The thing about being a Fortean conspiracy minded slightly paranoid semi-mystical experiencer-witness-researcher-writer is that you are constantly pondering the news-stream. Recent violent and (seemingly) random events beg you to ask: is there more to these stories? In the past couple of weeks we've had a flurry of items in the news involving violent actions; by individuals, by cops, by mobs. Possible reasons abound: is it the change in season? Is it the Fall -- literally -- into the often times frenetic crazy ass conflicting depressive forced joyful holiday season that begins in late October and doesn't let up until January? (or February, with a last gasp reminder for those who are alone, depressed or nonetheless feel the pressure: Valentine's Day in February.)
    October 4: Miriam Carey, the mother suffering from postpartum depression and on meds, killed by police in D.C. With a baby in the car! On the surface of things, she was on meds for postpartum depression, and was hearing voices, clearly mentally ill. Yet according to this ABC news article, those aren't symptoms of postpartum depression. Carey had also fallen and had a head injury; fired for unknown reasons when she returned to her job as a was dental hygienist. If she was so unstable, why was she allowed to be alone with her baby and able to drive off?  Among other symptoms Carey felt she was being electronically monitored and voices beamed into her head.
    October 4:  A D.C. man sets himself on fire. Main stream news reports that motives are unknown. Nor is the man's name, who died in in MedStar Washington Hospital several hours later.
      September 16:  Navy contractor Aaron Alexis, who shot and killed a dozen people; police later killed Alexis. Alexis also said he felt that "people were following him and "sending vibrations into his body," and that "people following him were using "some sort of microwave machine" to prevent him from sleeping." (Reuters)
     Fringe pundits like Coast to Coast's George Noory and his guests are discussing such events. Norry, and a guest here and there, say that the mental state of these individuals are the cause, and there is no conspiracy afoot. their symptoms are classic examples of what happens with certain types of mental disorders. That is possible. It is also possible that "they" -- and there is a "they" -- target individuals who are suffering from depression, schizophrenia and other forms of mental illness, and exploit them. Easier to make use of their technology by aiming it at the already ill citizen. It also makes cover stories much easier; a history of mental illness, or depression, they have been on meds for some time; you can see how the stories are prefabbed to be accepted by the public.
     There is no mere coincidence in the context of timing, or location. Government shut-down, D.C., and similarities in otherwise random and unconnected events. Maybe they are purely random and unconnected. Quite logical on one level. On another level, a sort of meta-para-sycho-mystical level, things aren't as clear cut. None of this matters to most, since the general population is exposed to almost daily doses of real life horrors committed by lone individuals, clearly gone mad, in a mad world.

Anyone Else Aware Police Were Pulling These Kinds Of Experiments On Our Children?

Another false terror act of a school bus hijacking performed (literally) as a "drill", complete with an audience of school teachers, administrators and staff who were watching the whole thing on camera.  Unclear to me if the students on the school bus were aware that this was only a drill, but I have the impression they did not. Bus drove to site where the audience was watching and students escorted off the bus by the SWAT team. Very scary, but, as is the case with these "drills", not for the reasons one might think. Scary because of the preparation of the police/terror state, and all the rest that goes with it. Also unknown -- if parents were notified beforehand of this drill terrorist act. Anyone Else Aware Police Were Pulling These Kinds Of Experiments On Our Children?

Here's another link to the "drill"  They quote Leonore Skenazy at Free Range Kids concerning student or parents' foreknowledge:
"I truly could not understand from this report (or Googling) if the students knew the attack was fake or not. They probably did, or just imagine the lawsuits. Nonetheless, it is nothing less than bizarre that while they were being "hijacked," school administrators and sundry responsible adults sat in folding chairs in a parking lot across town watching a big-screen live feed of the event."

However, according to the chief of police, students were told beforehand something "out of the ordinary" was going to happen:
"This was a well planned training exercise in which all participants (children and bus driver included) knew well in advance that they were participating in a training exercise to prepare for such an event to take place – which is very possible in our world today.

Each student and participant signed waivers that acknowledged their participation in this training." ~ Chief of Police Glenn Goss.


I'd like to see that waiver. My cynicism tells me it was probably the standard waiver one signs whenever students go on a field trip and or take the school bus. Lots of room for wiggle in that statement.

Under the disingenuous statements of concerned school administrators, well meaning but duped teachers, and gullible parents, students, and community, the ever present post 9/11 threat of terror is kept alive, and with it, the implementation of the police state.

Mueller told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that drones are used by the FBI in a "very, very minimal way and very seldom."

He did not say how many unmanned surveillance vehicles (UAVs) the FBI has or how often they have been used.

But a law enforcement official told CNN the FBI has used them a little more than a dozen times but did not say when that started. Juxtaposed with the fake shooting "drill" in Halfway, Oregon in early May. Halfway is also in eastern Oregon, about 144 miles from Pendleton. Not far, especially if you're in a drone.

Or of course, it could be nothing of the kind and be a tragic case of violent thugs unconnected to any government implementation. Either way, they have succeeded in planting seeds of doubt. Those that question are labeled "paranoid" and easily dismissed.

Mary Romig, has stated that federal investigators have no indication that the shooting was an act of terrorism. “It’s strictly an act of street violence in New Orleans.”

Louisiana Science Education Act Repeal Fails, Keeping Door Open For Teaching Of Creationism: The Louisiana state Senate Education Committee rejected a move to repeal the state's Science Education Act on Wednesday, handing a defeat to opponents who have criticized the law for essentially allowing the teaching of creationism in science class.

Under the law, public school teachers are permitted to introduce "supplemental textbooks and other instructional materials to help students understand, analyze, critique, and review scientific theories in an objective manner." While the Science Education Act says teachers may not "promote any religious doctrine," it contains no specific ban on the teaching of creationism. Teachers and local school boards also aren't required to obtain prior approval from the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education before introducing supplemental material, the Associated Press reports.

Republican Congressman Introduces Bill To Require Political Approval Of Scientific Papers | Addicting Info: Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas really does not understand science. Not scientific method, not scientific theories or laws, none of it. Which is why he submitted a bill draft titled the “High Quality Research Act” which would in effect add a politician into scientific studies.

The bill says that any research done using federal funds (which is the majority of research done in the United States) must have its results and finding approved by the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives. If the findings are not agreed to, the research is taken from the researchers and disposed of by Congress as it sees fit.

The hypothesis was this: “Effective and high-quality arts education can be a powerful catalyst for successful educational reform," in the words of PCAH vice-chair, Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., in a press release published when the program was launched.

It CAN Happen Here: Oregon Teachers Traumatized by Unannounced Shooter Drill

I could not believe it when I read this item in the Eugene, Oregon Register Guard. Alex Jones Infowars picked up the story:
 Oregon Teachers Traumatized by Unannounced Shooter Drill Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!: Panic erupted on Friday at Pine Eagle Charter school in rural Oregon when two masked men carrying handguns burst into a teachers’ lounge and opened fire.

After the initial chaos, the terrified teachers realized the guns were firing blanks and that they were the subject of an unannounced shooter drill.

The little school in Halfway, Oregon was having an in-service day, so the children were at home at the time of the drill. The terrifying action has drawn criticism from many but Principal Cammie DeCastro has defended it, saying, ”For us not to know how we were going to respond is leaving us open”.

Much is strange about this! Why in such a small, out of the way school in rural Oregon? Whose idea, at the top, was this? What if one or more staff members were armed -- concealed weapons carrier, for example --  and opened fire in defense?  What if someone had a heart attack or some other medical emergency response to the drill? Do "they" know something (predictive programming?) about this school and area others don't? Are "they" planning something?

Yes, they succeeded in planting those oily ugly seeds of paranoia within us. Plans are being considered for "volunteer" community members to "watch over the school in shifts" and "arm teachers":
The district’s Safety Committee and the School Board now will critically evaluate policies and procedures and decide what to do next, said DeCastro.

Armed teachers is one possible outcome, she said. Or the district may get armed and trained volunteers from the community to watch over the school in shifts, she said. Tougher doors and better locks are other options.
The article ends with this confusing sentence:
Had one of the teachers in that lounge already taken the time to prepare, the unannounced drill could have had tragic results.
Wait. If at least one of the teachers had been prepared, the drill would have had "tragic results?" Is there a typo, am I missing something, or is this intentionally confusing?

Clues in Location?
Returning to the location of the school: Halfway,  in the Wallowa Mountains in Eastern Oregon, has a population of 288. Halfway's history is interesting, as reported by OregonLive.com, which has a slightly fleshier article that's bascially the same as the abridged version on Infowars:
Halfway, population 288, is the eastern Oregon ranching town that became world-famous 13 years ago as the globe's first "Internet city." The city council changed Halfway's name to Half.com in return for $73,000 from a Philadelphia-based Internet bazaar of the same name that sold books, CDs, movies and the like on-line at half price.
The town got its old name back a year later when the on-line bazaar was sold to eBay. Now Halfway is back in the real world, where people sometimes enter schools and open fire.

There are several of these just two blocks from my home in a little area set aside for homeless individuals, and the Conestoga Hut model is also there. Compare the efforts of organizations like these to the post below. Eugene has a long way to go when it comes to helping the homeless, but there are compassionate groups and individuals, including local government (not perfect at all, by there are worse) are better than many. Activist Post: Report: New York Confiscating Firearm Permits From Citizens Legally Prescribed Anti-Anxiety Medication: David A. Schmecker, a Navy veteran with no history of arrests or mental illness, had his guns confiscated during an illegal search of his home after he refused a forced psychological evaluation that was issued simply for seeking a follow-up pain management appointment.

Not having any past history of arrests or mental illness, Schmecker politely refused the evaluation, which was the beginning of what would end up being an illegal seizure of a patriotic veteran's guns during a search that was conducted without a warrant and without any regard for the law.

After Schmecker refused the evaluation, his doctor called his house and heard what he claimed was an "odd" answering machine message that apparently led the doctor to call the police and order a wellness check.

“The police came to my home, and, without any justification whatsoever, hauled me away for a psychiatric evaluation at a local hospital. I submitted to their forceful insistence under duress and fear of arrest or worse," Schmecker told Survive and Thrive TV.

Daily pledge of allegiance should be required in Oregon schools, lawmaker says | OregonLive.com: SALEM -- A southern Oregon lawmaker says public schools have become too lax about the Pledge of Allegiance so he has introduced a bill to require districts to buy and display flags in every classroom, and to require a recitation of the pledge at least once a day.
"At least once a day?" The obvious aside -- propaganda, indoctrination, and your general fascist overtones -- the dismal state of budget cuts, curriculum slashing, staff reductions, increased class sizes, and higher academic "standards" teachers and students must reach within this gloomy mess -- but we're going to have time to say the Pledge "at least once" every day?

Naturally, it's a Republican behind this faux feel good patriotic stance:  Rep. Sal Esquivel. House Bill 3014.

Note the language used in the following (italics mine):
Esquivel's bill essentially cracks down on schools that aren't flying flags or ensuring that students get a chance to recite the pledge. It removes language that says schools give students "the opportunity" to say the pledge at least once a week, and replaces it with a requirement that schools provide "a time at least once daily" for a school official or a student to lead students in the traditional flag salute.
"Cracks down."  He's also pushing for charter schools, which get precious little from school districts, to be included in the requirement.

Syngenta’s Bt 176 corn variety expresses an insecticidal Bt toxin (Cry1Ab) derived from the bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and a gene conferring resistance to glufosinate herbicides. EU cultivation of Bt 176 was discontinued in 2007. Similar varieties however, including Bt 11 sweet corn are currently cultivated for human and animal consumption in the EU.

The above link takes us to a scary event unfolding in urban areas. In Chicago, where all this  started, getting anywhere with municipal bureaucracy is impossible. Kafka is the word. Instead of fixing that problem -- like, oh, you know, hiring a few people to answer questions and approve permits of tax payers -- we now have "City Scan." City Scan is now oozing out into other areas in the U.S.: New York, L.A., etc. City Scan would predict where illegal activity might take place.

On the surface, this may seem like a good thing: creative energy and ideas, working together to improve quality of life in the big city. But connect the dots, as us conspiracy watchers do. Agenda 21 comes to mind. Government land grabs across the country; harassing citizens who would go off the grid, if even a little bit. Arresting urban gardeners who grow vegetables in their front yards, or collect rain water. (People have gone to jail for collecting rain water.) Arrested for feeding the homeless.  Tracking, tracking tracking. Nationally, this country is tracking every one of us in increasing and intrusive ways: through the public schools, through our medical histories, even the homeless are being tracked. All of this is done, we're told, to help us. Data gathering is big time profit, and big time agenda setting. "Help" has nothing to do with it.

A Tupelo woman hired earlier this month by a KFC was fired Monday after the franchise owner discovered she’s homeless.

Eunice Jasica has been staying at the Salvation Army lodge since early December after losing her job, her car and her home.

The nonprofit organization requires its residents to seek employment daily and, upon finding it, to pay for lodging and start saving for a place of their own. Jasica said she had been job hunting for months and was relieved to find work on March 11 at the KFC on North Gloster Street.

A document signed by that location’s general manager on March 12 confirms Jasica had been hired to perform “prep work” and would receive a paycheck every two weeks.

But when Jasica reported for duty Monday, franchise owner Chesley Ruff withdrew the job offer upon learning she lived at the Salvation Army.
  Then the excuse was given that, being concerned about  Jasica's age (59) and ability to do the work, the manager wanted to spare her feelings.

Yesterday I posted a link to what the UK is doing with their public schools in terms of private corporations. Government plus private industry equals fascism; that's the definition of fascism. Today I come across this item about the public schools in the U.S. This database is funded by Bill and Melinda Gates:
National Database of School Children Launched - Parentalrights.org - Protecting Children by Empowering Parents: Last week the SXSWedu Technology Conference in Austin, Texas, featured a new project that has many educational technology companies very excited – and that has many parents angry and deeply concerned. The project is called inBloom – a massive national database of personal information on public school students – and it is already up and running. Largely funded by the pro-internationalist Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the $100 million project contains information on millions of children to date.

So far, at least 9 states are using or planning to use the system: Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina.
But parents in New York are furious that their child’s information is being shared with private companies “to create a national database for businesses that contract with public schools,” according to the New York Daily News.
Note the project's name: 'inBloom.'  The intent is to have the mind call up imagery of spring, new beginnings, growth, happiness -- spring! -- flowers, innocence, joy, children. We make the connections between children and nature, blooming children, growing and being nurtured, just like the flowers.

Data being stored includes identifying information such as name, address, and social security number, along with school grades, attendance, and even information on hobbies, interests, and attitudes toward school.

Jack Reacher Novels: Trickster Conspiracy Theater Frame


Reading a Jack Reacher novel. (Lee Child's series.) Die Trying. Like it. So far. Second Reacher novel I've read. First one was Nothing to Lose. Liked that too -- would have liked it a lot better if not for the end. End was disturbing. SPOILER: Reacher murders people in a pretty terrible way just because...unsure. Yeah, they were scum. Crazy scum. You don't kill on a potentiality.
Anyway. Die Trying. So far, enjoying it. As with the first -- despite the end. Big fan of hard boiled detective outsider type fiction, so discovering the Reacher novels in the staff book exchange bin was a treat. But. One thing I noticed, here, elsewhere, is how "conspiracy theorists" are framed by entertainment culture. Haven't finished Die Trying. Yet. But so far, the racist psychotic sadistic zealots in the novel spew conspiracy theories at the drop of a hat. Detailed, on the mark. Research has been done. Childs has done his homework. So I got to thinking. The conspiracy theories are not without substance. Not at all. What the torturing domestic terrorists believe is true is true. Except. They're believed by dangerous and cruel people who do dangerous and cruel things. So what is the message here? The truth of the conspiracy theories are then not true (or worthy of consideration) because truly crazy characters embrace the truths of these "theories?"
Author Childs politics come through in another way. Through the voice of other characters on the "right side" of things. The FBI. Local police. Average citizens. Even the outsider hero Jack Reacher. All reject the conspiracy rantings of the criminals with tax paying law abiding good citzenship non-racist perspectives. (Throwing in the racist angle adds to the marginalization of "conspiracy theorists" and further demonizes them. As it should. See how that worked? Racist, no one wants to be that. Except for conspiracy nuts.)

No. Haven't finished Die Trying. Will though. Like I said. Big fan of hard boiled pulp type stuff. Adding to the Trickster twisting of conspiracy vibes, is the recent Jack Reacher movie starring Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise, Scientoloigst. Playing an ex-military outsider type. Who, in the books, is described as:

"6'5",
220-250 lbs.,
50" chest
 Dirty-blond
 Ice Blue
3XLT coat, 95 cm. pants' inseam
on the Official Jack Reacher website. Cruise is not any of those things.  Now, haven't read what Childs really thinks, or even the whole book. I could be full of stale cold beans. But so far, the conspiracy theorist framed as psycho killer is an interesting development. Course, this book was written in the late 1990s. Different President, pre-9/11. Just.  Does that matter? Is that fact pertinent? Shrug.

CVS Pharmacy Wants Workers' Health Information, or They'll Pay a Fine | ABC News Blogs - Yahoo!: A new policy by CVS Pharmacy requires every one of its nearly 200,000 employees who use its health plan to submit their weight, body fat, glucose levels and other vitals or pay a monthly fine.

Employees who agree to this testing will see no change in their health insurance rates, but those who refuse will have to pay an extra $50 per month - or $600 per year - for the company's health insurance program. All employees have until May 1, 2014, to make an appointment with a doctor and record their vitals.
It's not "voluntary" if you're forced to pay a fine for refusing to reveal your health stats to CVS.

The latest slick new thing is here: Google Glass. Already being tested by happy hipster tech types, a mere $1,500.00 is worth the price. But for others, this is scary news.

For example:

Us conspiracy Fortean para-political buffs suspect something far more sinister. Gizmodo is so dense they just let this go right over there heads:
The Navy was a little vague on what exactly these bad guys could be, since "adversaries" and "terrorists" covers about anything imaginable on a boat. Indeed, we were told that "There are times when [the Navy will] pay attention to commercial shipping" off the Californian coast, boats that don't bear any indication of belligerence at all.
Pure propaganda, and obvious propaganda at that; they don't even try. Spying drones intruding on our every day lives? Sure, but that's okay:

Drones in vacation spots are an inevitability. The idea of a beachside xanadu conducting unceasing, expensive, militarized robot flights might sound strange, but it isn't. There will be more bases like that at Point Mugu, spreading around the world like sunburn. There will be drones in California, drones in Texas, drones in Paris, all part of the Pentagon's vision of reshaping its military omnipresence around "lily pads"—light, decentralized bases that house specialized forces and, of course, drones.

Idaho State Senator John Goedde, who chairs that state Senate’s Education Committee, introduced a bill this week that would require all students to read Ayn Rand’s book “Atlas Shrugged” before they can graduate. Goedde explained that the book made his son a Republican and that it “certainly gives one a sense of personal responsibility.”
That item is from truthout's Thom Hartman and Sam Sacks article on this madness. They remind us of what corporations are, and who they serve:

Sadly, this understanding of how democratic republics work - and why - has been lost this generation.

And Ayn Rand’s disciples are making sure the next generation never finds it again.

RESPONSE: "You're absolutely right. I agree with you 100%. It is impossible to totally cover up a conspiracy so massive. That's why I know about it! What you must understand is that they don't have to cover it up totally. Even a bucket that has a few leaks can still do the job of carrying water from here to there! They only need to fool 80% of the public, which isn't hard to do when you control the major networks and newspapers. The 10-20% that do figure it out (and the fewer still who will dare to speak their minds about it) can be very easily marginalized with the propaganda label "conspiracy theorist." The 80% + never take us critical thinkers seriously because they want to be part of the majority. This is known as groupthink. (*Note: When saying "conspiracy theorist", always hold your two hands up as you make sarcastic quote marks with your fingers.)

Critics are likely to complain that it will allow the US military to create a false consensus in online conversations, crowd out unwelcome opinions and smother commentaries or reports that do not correspond with its own objectives.”

The goal, the article goes on to inform us, is simply "...to counter extremists and enemy propaganda outside of the U.S., saying that it would be unlawful to address U.S. audiences."

Except. 2013 brings us a new law that "...allows the U.S government to legally carry out misinformation campaigns against U.S. citizens."

As the article points out, none of this is surprising, nor, just because the government publicly states a particular program is no longer in play, doesn't mean a thing. It just means that's what they say, not what they do.

TSA Removing Body Scanners: False Flag Preparation?

I think the subtitle to this blog should be "Or am I getting too paranoid?" Yet, my first feeling/thought that came up strong and loud when I came across the news:
TSA removing 'virtual strip search' body scanners - CNN.com: Washington (CNN) -- Airport body scanners that produce graphic images of travelers' bodies will be removed from checkpoints by June, the Transportation Security Administration says, ending what critics called "virtual strip searches."

Passengers will continue to pass through machines that display a generic outline of the human body, raising fewer privacy concerns.

The TSA move came after Rapiscan, the manufacturer of the 174 so-called "backscatter" machines, acknowledged it could not meet a congressional-ordered deadline to install privacy software on the machines.
...was that we will soon see an event in an airport involving guns; possibly a shooting. (Or threat of shooting that, fortunately, did not happen.)A mock domestic or non-domestic terrorist act, whether a lone shooter or something more involved. Though I think a lone shooter is the most likely. So scanners back in place, only even more intrusive -- a new, "improved" version taking even more data from travelers. And in all this, the controversy over gun control (and with it, mental health issues, Big Pharma, and the laws surrounding all that) will continue. Nothing will ever get done; no one ends up being satisfied, not the NRA, not the gun control people, not the left, not the right. But most will think we are, as we flail around in this mad dance.

Activist Post: What You DON'T Say Might be Held Against You: It's hard to believe, but yet another entrenched constitutional right is up for debate to be trampled upon: the right to remain silent. This right, in fact, even goes beyond the U.S. Constitution and has become a chestnut of virtue for all: silence is golden. Well, apparently not anymore if the Supreme Court sides for the police in the case of Salinas vs. Texas.

The case stems from a 1992 double-murder where police questioned Genevevo Salinas who was reported to have attended a party of the deceased. After Salinas voluntarily agreed to answer questions of the attending police officers, he refused one question: whether shotgun shells that were found at the scene would match a gun taken from the apartment. Instead, officers would later testify that his body language answered for him:

he 'looked down at the floor, shuffled his feet, bit his bottom lip, clinched his hands in his lap, began to tighten up.' (Source)

Paul Ryan Once Again Sponsors the Bill That Would Make It Possible for Women's Rapists to Sue Them: In an unsurprising turn of events, Ryan has signed on as cosponsor to the Sanctity of Human Life Act again. The original bill — which declares that life begins with fertilization, and would give states the right to ban all abortion, even in the cases involving incest, rape, or the life of the mother — thankfully died in Congress in 2011.

But now it's baaaaack, which is scary because not only is the above terrifying, there's all sorts of other creepy shit hidden in this monster. Like, if a woman who was raped in a state that banned abortions went to a state that didn't ban abortions and had an abortion? Her rapist could theoretically sue to stop the abortion from happening, and probably win.

PressTV - US school district votes guns for janitors to protect students

Following the nation's thread of paranoid concern and focus on the wrong issues, another school has voted to arm school personnel.

School board voted to arm custodians. Don't worry, they'll have a "2 day training." Parents were not asked for input. It's not clear from this news item if custodians can opt out; in other words, is this voluntary? Either way, they are required to purchase their own firearms. I assume the training is paid for by the district.

According to local reports, school janitors, all men, will buy their own guns. Teachers and others with direct supervision of students, however, will not be armed.

Amid concerns that the decision was made without parental input, Grime further noted that the cleaning staff will not begin carrying guns until they complete a “two-day course” in March.

Police drug search intrudes on husband's final moments with deceased wife | Deseret News: A man says Vernal police disrupted an intimate moment of mourning with his deceased wife of 58 years when they searched his house for her prescription medication without a warrant within minutes of her death.

Barbara Alice Mahaffey died of colon cancer in her bedroom last May. Ben D. Mahaffey, 80, said he was distraught and trying to make sure his wife's body would be taken to the funeral home with dignity, when he says officers insisted he help them look for the drugs.

"I was holding her hand saying goodbye when all the intrusion happened," he told the Deseret News.

Utah town makes arming households a top priority - Yahoo! News: Officials in a small Utah town want to make sure every head of household has a firearm and knows how to use it, and they want to give school teachers training with guns too. (italics mine)

Spring City Councilman Neil Sorensen first proposed an ordinance requiring a gun in every household in the town of 1,000. The rest of the council scoffed at making it a requirement, but they unanimously agreed to move forward with an ordinance "recommending" the idea.

The council also approved funding to offer concealed firearms training Friday to the 20 teachers and administrators at the local elementary school.

"It sends a statement that criminals better think twice," Sorensen told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "If a teacher would have had a concealed weapon in Sandy Hook, I think the death loss would have been fewer. If sane, trained people had guns, they could have shot back."
