Richard's Room 101: Interview with Jim Marrs

Richard Thomas, a contributor to Binnall of America and blogger/researcher, interviews one of my favorite people in the Fortean conspiracy world: Jim Marrs. Here Thomas and Marrs talk about the JFK assassination.

Trying Not to Sound Like a Wild-Eyed Conspiracy Freak

As they say, "good luck with that." Chatting with a neighbor today about his experiences with roofers and his new roof (we're getting ready to re-do ours) the subject of collecting rainwater came up. Jim commented it's illegal to do so in some places, like Colorado, our neighbor was quite surprised, and asked, naturally enough, "Why?" I casually and humorously said "Do you want the conspiracy answer or the short answer?" but I could tell, even though I was calm, cool, collected, and keeping it very light, he thought I was nuts. Because it's all about control, which sounds simple enough, but follow the tendrils of this octopus and one discovers how insidious it is. Yes, sure, control of money, greed, power and water companies raking in what they can, as I told our neighbor, and he acknowledged that made sense. But it was the rest of it that got away and caused him to subconsciously give me that glassy eyed look I get whenever these things come up.

Control. Extending that idea; control of us. Reminders from "them" -- the government, the utility companies, Big Pharma and GM, Dr. Evils and so on -- "them" reminding us they can tell us to do whatever they want us to do, and that we, the hoi polloi, the peasants, are not in control of our own lives. We don't get a say in our health, the foods we eat, what we choose to buy or grow.

If we want to collect rainwater for whatever reasons: avoid fluoride and lithium and who knows what, etc. that's not our right to do so. That's what it's about.

But all that sounds like crazy conspiracy speak. It's a reminder that, while living in one world: the alternative universe of fringe Fortean fun and goodness, the real/mundane world mostly doesn't give a damn.

Why Privacy Matters Even if You Have 'Nothing to Hide' - The Chronicle Review - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Very good article from Daniel J. Solove at The Chronicle Review about an annoying, naive and obtuse response to government-Big Brother/Business intrusions into our privacy; the "I don't have anything to hide..." line. Well, here's why there's a lot wrong with that simplistic view:

Family Owes USDA $90,000.00 for Earning $500.00 in Rabbit Sales

USDA hassles family and demands $90,000.00 because they sold rabbits totaling $500.00 in one year. If they don't pay the fine, they'll have to pay $4 million -- yes, million -- dollars in fines. They have an attorney, let's wish this family luck.

Spying on Campus

Steadily, and quietly it seems since most of us are walking around as if everything is normal these days, "they" (Big Brother, Fascist State, Police State, Illuminati, Dr. Evils -- your favorite name inserted here...) continue :

Disney's on it! Trademarks 'Seal Team 6'

This is surreal. Disney has trademarked the phrase "Seal Team 6" and is bringing out "...toys, games, movies, snow globes ... Christmas stockings and Christmas ornaments..."

Snow globes? Christmas ornaments?

If this doesn't illustrate the madness of our world right now I'm not sure you'll ever get it. Wonder if Disney has plans for a toy titanium fanged German Shepherd?

Two days after U.S. Navy Seals Team 6 made headlines around the world for the dramatic raid that killed terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden, the Walt Disney Company trademarked their name, reports FishbowlNY.
This doesn't effect how the Navy uses the moniker for military purposes, but it does mean we may soon be seeing 'Seal Team 6' branded products and entertainment.
According to records viewable online with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Disney filed the Trademark paperwork on May 3, 2011 for 'Seal Team 6'.

Oh, and there's this:
The records show Disney applied to use the name for 'entertainment and education services'. [italics and bold mine]

Another School Drill: Shots Fired

I've been commenting on these stories of staged events in schools for a few years now. There's an specific agenda afoot to indoctrinate children in schools, both here and in the UK. Often, these drills include staged UFO events: crashes or landings. Other times, students are victims of fake attacks of violence; shooters or some other violent incident. Local police happily participate in these fake attacks, landings, etc. giving an added sense of reality to these scenes. Here's another one: Suburban Chicago School Concept of “Safety Drill”

In all of these staged events, whether the theme is UFOs, accidents, murder victims or shooters, the elements are the same:

  • Students are not informed drills are drills or fake events
  • Parents are not notified before hand
  • Often, not all school staff are aware of fake scene
  • Local police participate, acting out roles of investigating officers, taking witness reports, etc.
  • All these staged incidents have to do with the unexpected, and the violent
  • Justification given by educators is that these drills (paraphrasing) "foster critical thinking skills," "encourage creativity" and so on

Jellyfish Tanks

Jellyfish tanks are the latest thing for collectors. I love jellyfish (my Etsy book store is called Jellyfish Sky) and I think it would be quite cool to have one of these "jellyfish art tanks." On the other hand, something about this bothers me; captured jellyfish swimming endlessly around in a tank, how happy a life is that? It's all a constant moral balancing act on the self-gratification gratuitous continuum. So even if I could afford the $300.00 (at the minium) cost, I would pass.

Spinach Pigs

For healthier pork for us to consume: spinach enhanced pigs.

Japanese scientists have put spinach "genetic material" into pigs. The purpose is to provide the consumer with "healthier pork."
"It is confirmed for the first time in the world that a plant gene is functioning properly in a living mammal, not in a cultured cell," said Professor Iritani.
Professor Iritani "hopes" this will be safe:
Professor Iritani said he hoped to prove the genetically modified pork was safe to eat.
"I know genetically modified food has met poor public acceptance, but I hope safety tests will be conducted to make people feel like eating [the GM pork] for the sake of their health," he said.
As with all stories concerning cloning or genetically tweaked animals in the name of  bigger and more, the animals themselves suffer:
Professor Iritani said only about 1% of GM piglets survived after being born, although breeding among GM pigs would ensure the spinach gene was passed on.

Churnings of a Fortean, Conspiratorial Mind: Recent Events

The churnings of the Fortean conspiratorial mind: connections, links, esoteric symbolism  and more articulate and practiced minds (Peter Levenda, Andrew Colvin, Adam Gorightly, Chica Bruce, Joan d'arc...) I'm sure, can comment more effectively on the following recent events: the royal wedding, the beatification of Pope John Paul II, the surfacing of Obama's birth certificate, the assassination of Osama Bin Laden (with the odd phrasing contained in a Yahoo! news alert: "... secretive and highly mythologized special forces. . . ") and all within the past week.
