California Residents Hit With Government Ban On Paying By Cash

Not long ago I posted about paying with cash; and how it's a misnomer that "places have to take cash-- it's legal tender." Technically, it's not illegal to refuse cash.

Anyway, now things are getting ever more tighter and scarier; a California town has now banned cash for "public services." And the reason why they're doing this is equally scary: thinking is, you're a terrorist if you want to pay with cash.

Updated List Of Animal Die-Offs

An updated list of fish and bird deaths from around the world, along with official explanations. The official explanations vary: cold, poison, hit by traffic, intoxicated, getting lost, forgetting to migrate, "beats us," fireworks, fishing nets damaged, storms, earthquakes, humans killing animals, algae, and "a strange white fog caused lung infection." Er, what?

Olbermann and MSNBC: a failing relationship - Yahoo! News

This is too bad; Keith Olbermann has left MSNBC. "Left," meaning, who knows what really happened, who wants to guess? Article quotes the right winge Media Research Center's Brent Bozell:
O'Donnell "is every bit as mean-spirited (as Olbermann), but not as creative," Bozell said. "I don't think the philosophy of MSNBC will change one iota."
"Mean-spirited?" Once again, directness and assertiveness are mistaken for "mean." Usually that stuff is said about women. Anyway, I'll miss Olbermann, but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him, and he'll turn up somewhere. And I don't mean sports, hopefully not.

DHS Oklahoma: “Sniffin’ Dirt”…Snitching On Your Neighbor Will Keep Us All Safe! :

Intel Hub reports on more Homeland Security urgings to citizens to snitch. Remember the videos in Wal-Marts: "If you see something, say something" propaganda? There is also the "Waste Watch" program which has in place for a couple of years now; that's the one where sanitation workers are trained -- yes, they go through training -- to watch out for suspicious activity, and act, if needed, as reporters to authorities. So here's one more in the DHS campaign to get us all working together  against each other as we live, breathe and think anxiety, fear, and paranoia:

FAA - Warns of ongoing GPS issues in southeastern US due to Defense Dept ‘tests’ [20Jan11]

Here's an interesting item (thanks to piglipstick for the link) from the Department of Defense about "testing" in the southeastern part of the country, that will disrupt GPS systems. Assuming the vague "GPS testing" is really what they're testing, of course. You don't think this has anything to do with bird die-offs, do you?

Censored Link or Just a Glitch? 'EPA Knowingly Approved Bee-Killing Pesticide '

On the heels of the news that the government acknowledged they killed hundreds of starlings in Yankton, South Dakota on the 17th of January by putting posianed bait in a feedlot, comes this story: EPA Knowingly Approved Bee-Killing Pesticide ,found on Rense.com. Clicking on the link brings up a "page not found" message, which is either a glitch, or, falling into the Rense mind set, a conspiracy.

Here's the story on Natural News: EPA knowingly approved bee-killing pesticide.
(NaturalNews) A Colorado beekeeper recently obtained a leaked document revealing that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) knows a popular crop pesticide is killing off honey bees, but has allowed its continued approval anyway. Despite opposition from its own scientists, EPA officials first gave the a-okay to Bayer CropScience's toxic pesticide clothianidin in 1993 based on the company's own flawed safety studies. But now it has been revealed that the EPA knew all along about the dangers of clothianidin and decided to just ignore them.
The article brings up the obvious question: if the EPA knew clothiandin was toxic, why go ahead with its application? And, why has clothiandin been banned in Europe, yet its use is approved in the States?

Gov. Admits Killing Birds in South Dakota

The Huffington Post reports that the Yankton, South Dakota bird die-off of Monday, Jan. 17th was caused by the government:Hundreds Of Dead Birds In South Dakota Were Killed By U.S. Government (VIDEO) The starlings were contaminating the feed; officials felt that poisoning the birds was the best way to go.
A bait laced with the poison DRC-1339 was used, though officials were surprised the birds made it so far before dying. They assure that the poisoned dead birds do not pose a risk to nearby animals or humans.
And we get the usual refrain that the massive die offs of bird, fish and cattle are "not related"
Officials don't believe any of the incidents are related, and suspect a wide range of causes to be responsible, from cold weather and fireworks to semi-truck collisions and overeating, though they admit in many instances a clear cause may never be identified. According to The AP, mass animal deaths are not a rare occurrence.

TSA Now Forcing Opt-Outs To Walk Through Body Scanners

TSA employees tell passengers they now have to go through switched off body scanners, even though the passengers have asked for the body pat down instead. The obvious question is: what good would it do to walk through a turned off machine? (And, as is asked in the following article: TSA Now Forcing Opt-Outs To Walk Through Body Scanners what proof is there the machines are actually turned off?)

What is the purpose of over-riding the supposed "opt out" policy and having people walk through a turned off machine?
It makes perfect sense in a game of psychological warfare by the government to suppress the will of people to opt out of the intrusive searches being done. What better way than to make that naughty guy that opts out walk through and thereby, in a way, submit to the machine. Otherwise, by walking around the machine, there is a sense of victory. In such a case, one thinks, “I did not submit to that machine and the unwanted xrays and pictures. I did not go through it.” By going through it, there is a sense of defeat. “I had submitted,” one thinks.

Trivializing Bird Falls: PIgeons Die on Sunset Blvd.

I found the link on Rense.com, where it was presented as serious. "371 Dead Birds Fall from Sky on Sunset Blvd." The article very quickly turns ugly in a not- funny- but- we- think- we're -being -funny way. Kind of nasty all the way around, with the smarmy comments about the homeless. But what I strikes me the most is the marginalization of a very serious global phenomena. Whether it's intentional, as in government Dr. Evil plant and cover-up doing its disinfo thing, or, just some smart ass being not as clever as he thinks he is, that constant, low level hum that sends the signal it's not that bad, these events aren't connected, nothing to see here, is being maintained.

The Animals Are Signaling. . .

Fish Kill
Lots of posts on my blog Animal Forteana on current events related to animals. These signals keep coming; from bird deaths to marine life die-offs, and more. Cricket virus that has affected the commercial cricket industry. Bull sharks swimming down Main Street in Australia. Every day is a new story of strange happenings concerning animals.
These are not isolated items disconnected from each other; or merely curious events that are "coincidental" and simply paranoiac pattern seeking episodes from both the conspiracy minded individuals and non-conspiracy minded alike.

Bird Falls: Fortean, Connected and Conspiratorial But Don't Panic

I'm not being facetious when I say "but don't panic." The global deaths of birds and marine life we've been seeing since right before the New Year (and they are continuing up to this very moment) are alarming.

It's true that falls of birds and other animals have always occurred. In an esoteric context, we know that, and Charles Fort famously documented such high strangeness deaths. "Fish kills" and flocks of birds dropping from the skies are not unheard of. And this fact is partly where the division has begun in what we've been currently witnessing.  Skeptics and the "rational"  causally inform us that these events are not all that weird, and, that there's no connection between them. The same tired mantras of the skeptics come out: humans are pattern seeking creatures, so we tend to see more than what's there in these recent global animal deaths. On the far end of this continuum we have the exploitative alarmist crowd; the Jeff Rense minded ones who are enjoying this in some perverse way. Unfortunately, it's the latter group that the former group holds up as the only version. The media gets involved and perpetuates the game; not caring to investigate, they merely report on these global events with glibness, and regurgitate the lightest aspects of these events. (How many close-ups of fireworks going off in a field, with blackbirds in the background,  do we have to see?)

Then we have the  end of the world apocalyptic religious types, who feel somewhat vindicated in a sick way that these deaths are happening. They're into all crazy living in the woods types; they're your co-workers and neighbors. Sigh.

Meanwhile, the reality is: these deaths are occurring. And truly, without aligning myself with any of the above mentioned groups, anyone who thinks these events are unimportant and unconnected is naive. In the context of what we've been experiencing for the past year or more, and certainly within the context of now, -- the series of bird and marine life deaths alone - these events are valid signals that something is very wrong.

It is also true that there is a cover-up of these events. To deny that there is  is also naive. Reasons  for the cover-up, the disinformation, the distractions, the omissions and marginalizations, are due to the usual reasons cover-ups of weird and immense phenomena occur. Authorities on various levels don't know why it happened; but they're not going to let on they don't know why it happened.  People at all levels want to keep their jobs, others are paid off -- the usual. At all times, a few points are reiterated: there's no connection between these events, they happen all the time, we love patterns, blackbirds, starlings, crows, etc. are crop damaging nuisances. To bolster these rational explanations, those that hold an opinion there indeed might be more than just "coincidence" are juxtaposed with "conspiracy theorists," and other derisive words: tin foil hat, UFOs, flying saucers, Bigfoot, paranoid, and so on.

Acknowledging these tragic deaths are occurring is not neccessarily join the ranks of the religious fundamentalists.

We need to pay attention and wake up. We need to hear; to listen. It's bad, and now maybe I'm being naive but as bad as it is I believe there is hope. Calling attention to these deaths and naming them for what they are doesn't always have to come from a dismal end of the world position. It's a fine line between feeding the negative energy and deflecting that energy. I get freaked out; and this has me freaked out. Much of what's been going on in the world for months now has me freaked out. That's not always a bad thing; to be freaked out. I can choose to continue to be freaked out and let that carry me away to an almost incapacitated state, or I can go in the other direction.

Bird Expert Tells Us: No Big Deal

Gary Graves, bird curator at the Smithsonian, tells us that the bird die-offs are nothing to worry about.
The timing of the deaths seem curious, but, according to one expert, reports of their significance have been greatly exaggerated.
An interesting comment: "...reports of their significance ...greatly exaggerated." In other words, those of us who put any kind of meaning onto these bird and fish deaths since the end of December 2010 and continuing, are being silly. Note the subjective interpretation factor here; no denying it's happening, but any concern attached is unwarranted.

Continuing with this tactic, Graves (and that's an interesting Fortean name-game observation; "graves", deaths, burials, carcases, ...) justifies the madness with the comment that blackbirds are annoying:
When Graves first heard about the blackbird deaths, he didn’t think much of it. He still doesn’t. “The blackbirds are considered a nuisance, especially in the south where large winter roosts occur,” said Graves,
Not many would disagree with that: starlings are an abhorrence (and I'm an avid bird and animal lover) but the implication here is that the deaths are actually a welcome thing, a good thing, since blackbirds of various varieties are "a nuisance." "There's a pattern," Graves acknowledges, but it's "just coincidence." And of course he calls some of the speculations "really sublimely ridiculous,":
Theories range from “the really sublimely ridiculous,” like flying saucers and top-secret government weapons..
While I don't agree that "flying saucers" is "sublimely ridiculous" I understand the dismissal of such an idea. Okay, maybe it is pretty ridiculous; not because there aren't aliens afoot, but because, well, that's another topic entirely. What aliens would want with birds and fish all of a sudden; doesn't make sense. We're not living inside an episode of V. Use of the term "flying saucer" frames the entire subject of UFOS and puts it in a trivialized and marginalised realm. In the kook basket, not worth anyone's time. In that same breath, is the "top-secret government weapons" as if that, too, is within the "flying saucer" kook bin. That latter is interesting; weapons technology is not mad-eyed insane theory, and deflection from considering the idea is intentional.

Italy is The Latest To Report Mystery Bird Deaths: Thousands Of Turtle Doves Fall Dead From Sky

It Just Keeps Coming: Birds Dying In Italy: Thousands Of Turtle Doves Fall Dead From Sky

Birds Dying In Italy: Thousands Of Turtle Doves Fall Dead From Sky
On Wednesday, GeaPress reported hundreds -- possibly thousands -- of dead and dying birds in Italy. Countless turtle doves were found scattered in the streets, in flower beds and hanging tragically from trees "like Christmas balls" in the town of Faenza. Many of the birds that fell dead from the sky were discovered with a mysterious blue stain in their beaks.

Watching Children Play

I don't have children of my own, but that doesn't have much to do with recent events and my thoughts. After listening to "Major" Ed Dames on C2C the other night, I was terrified, lost, depressed, confused. The on-going bird and fish kills and other madness added to that. And then today, watching beautiful, unsuspecting children play, I was PISSED. Just downright pissed, and angry, and I REFUSED. Refused to buy into the end of the world kiss your ass goodbye we're all gonna die a horrible death meme. It's bad, very very very bad, and I am not for one minute suggesting we act like nothing's going on. You're a damn naive ignorant fool if you think that. But rage and fight against it, don't accept it. Love, too. Love with a fierceness, with energy, even while informing, and rebelling. But don't give in. Don't give UP.

Bird and FIsh Kill Cause: PHOSGENE BIOLOGICAL WARFARE MAKES MORE SENSE THAN WHAT "THE TALKING HEADS" ARE SAYING RE: John P. Wheeler III

Big thank you to the amazing Skylaire Alfvegren for this link:

PHOSGENE BIOLOGICAL WARFARE MAKES MORE SENSE THAN WHAT "THE TALKING HEADS" ARE SAYING RE: John P. Wheeler III
These aerial spraying planes, this report continues, are based at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas that over the past few months have been involved with ‘test dispersants’ of poisonous gasses in the Afghanistan War Theater using chemical weapons stocks obtained from Iraq and held at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, also located in Arkansas.
While it seems truly apocalyptic, the bird and fish kills may be because of our need to play with war toys. I commented on that with the first post on the Bebee, Arkansas bird fall; that since the birds suffered "blunt trauma" to their internal organs before hitting the ground, it's possible that damage was due to weapons technology of some kind. HAARP, or, who knows. This article brings up some very interesting facts.

New Bird Deaths: East Texas

Now East Texas also reports hundreds of dead birds

Local Fox News on Bird Deaths

Watching the 10:00 Fox local news (a dismal, awful news show in general, with equally dismal "reporters") who teased with pre-show lead-ins they were going to talk about the "mysterious" bird deaths. So I'm waiting for that sure to be interesting segment; meanwhile, they open with sports, weather, school district stories and woes, the lottery, ah, now, the birds! No, wait, they just announced the story will follow the weather report.

Oh I can't stand it; now the two are standing there, -- the woman has her travel mug in her hand! -- they're chatting about electronic book readers vs. "old fashioned books," and the rumor Borders might close its store in Eugene. Now they're on to Netflix. I can't stand this this is a news program?????!!!!! But I digress.

Oy, now another commercial break. So far, we haven't heard anything about anything going on in the world, or the U.S., including the bird and fish die offs.

Now they're onto the Arkansas bird deaths, and video of what residents have to say about the fireworks explanation, which residents, and the Governor, aren't buying into. Images of a web page with words popping up on the screen: chemtrails, H1N1, disease, all floating there, as theories offered up by citizens. Travel mug reporter then encourages viewers to submit their own ideas about the bird deaths, just email her with your favorite theory. Fox "news"  mentions the Louisiana bird deaths, and end with what they opened with: a shot of fireworks going off, and the suggestion, again, that fireworks killed those birds as well.

Well, that's the news!

Octopus Confessional: More Bird Deaths, and Fish Kills

Octopus Confessional: More Bird Deaths, and Fish Kills

More Bird Deaths, and Fish Kills

Since the first day I heard about the bird deaths in Beebe, Arkansas (the first of this recent cluster of bird deaths) I've been blogging about the strange, and not uncoincidental, deaths of birds and fish here on Octopus Confessional and my other blogs, mainly Animal Forteana and Women of Esoterica. Others have been busy commenting as well. The following is from Kithra, of Kithra's Krystal Kave. (Kithra is also a contributor to Women of Esoterica.) From Kithra's Krystal Kave: Bird, and Fish, deaths still unexplained, Kithra asks the same kinds of questions many of us have been asking. (Note that Kithra lives in the UK, which means the news of these bird deaths have crossed the pond, as they say.) Referring to the Arkansas bird deaths, Kithra asks, of the fireworks-er-thunder-storm-lightening-theory:
If fireworks killed them, why doesn’t it happen every New Year and why, especially, doesn’t it happen here in the UK every Bonfire Night! Nor does it happen here in heavy thunderstorms.
Kithra points out the explanation for the Kentucky bird deaths doesn't hold either; that explanation for the Kentucky occurrence is that confused birds flew into power lines, thus killing them.

Kithra mentions yet a new bird kill; as of today (January 5th, 2011) this time in "central Sweden," in the city of Falkoping. (More here.) The bird deaths were due to, once again, "fireworks" and, weirdly, this happened around midnight as well, as with the Beebe, Arkansas event.

Read the full article at Kithra's blog; she also discusses the fish kills, not only in Arkansas, but elsewhere.

So many speculations, from the insulting ridiculous (fireworks, power lines, thunder storms) to the conspiratorial -- some ridiculous, maybe, some not so much:  (HAARP, weapons, aliens, . . .) Whatever the reason or reasons, three things are sure: 1) These events are not coincidental, 2) The reasons are not mundane, nor isolated and 3) We need to pay great attention to these episodes, and understand that they have something to do with us.

On that last: we are not separate from other animals, we are not absolved of responsibility, or, of responding to, these deeply disturbing signals. For signals they are. Of the specifics, unknown, but it's clear it has quite a lot to do with our relationship, our connection, with our planet and all her inhabitants. Which, includes us, the human race.In some ways it's a moot point what the causes are: they are, and it's huge and terrifying and a clear message that things are very wrong.

Mixed Messages and Elusive Reports: Parsing the Bird Fall Reports

<"a href="http://www.sure-start.com/now-dead-birds-found-in-louisiana/3673107">Estimates vary widely on the number of birds that fell to their deaths in Beebe, Arkansas over New Year's. From 1,000 to 5,000, roughly 500 in Louisana. Both of those reports are confirmed.

Then an unconfirmed report of a bird fall in Manitoba that supposedly took place where reporters were allegedly turned away. (I did a quick Google of Manitoba news sources and didn't find anything on this story.) And another unverified report of a bird fall in the loosely defined "South America." "South America" is a big place, where in South America? Well, the Before Its News site has an update on the latter:
More bird deaths reported in U.S. Just days after thousands of blackbirds dropped out of the sky over a small town in Arkansas, another 500 birds fell to their death over a Louisiana highway.
Scarletwhore.com is getting reports of Bird deaths in Brazil, Argentina, Columbia.
"Brazil, Argentina, Columbia." That clears things up. The link on Scarletwhore.com doesn't lead to anything about bird falls in South America or anywhere else, instead, it takes you to one of those parked type pages. No info at all on any bird deaths.

Many questions surrounding these bird falls. Why are two unconfirmed reports floating around? And why the mixed messages, and mixed information, as to causes and numbers of birds killed?

Compare the reports on the first fall, which was the Beebe, Arkansas episode:
Arkansas State Veterinarian Dr. George Badley tells Today's THV that preliminary test results show thousands of birds died mid-air due to multiple blunt trauma to their vital organs.

" Its not that unusual but that many it make you think that its not a disease its something cataclysmic that happened all at one time," says Badley.

with today's local newspaper (Oregon's Register Guard) which reprinted an Associated Press article on the Arkansas (the first of these New Year's bird falls) event. (The on-line edition of the Register Guard did not include this article in their "Associaetd Press" line-up. In fact, I couldn't find it anywhere, even searching "Arkansas bird falls" in their search section.):
"They died from massive trauma," said Game and Fish Commission spokesman Keith Stephens.
That came from the findings of the "state poultry lab . . . injuries were ... in the breast tissue, with blood clotting and bleeding in the body cavities."
The article goes on to list a few other bird kills -- and fish kills -- in the area since 1973, with "bad weather" being the main cause.

And yet, even as I'm writing this blog post, I find yet another bird fall story: this one in Kentucky. Not as dramatic as the other stories; just a dozen or less in one woman's yard, that seemed to have preceded the New Year's bird fall. Possible precursor of things to come in the Kentucky case?

What is interesting are the locations of the bird falls. If we include the unconfirmed Manitoba event, it's a basically straight line from Manitoba to Arkansas and Louisansa, with Kentucky to the east and north of the states, and east of Manitoba. All within a fairly close longitudinal range. (Can't speak to the South American events, since those remain iffy as to location at this time.)

The spin by news media is interesting; conflicting explanations, and lots of references to conspiracy theory buffs, which of course, in mainstream culture, equates to "nut job, pay no attention to that wild eyed ranting person." For example, this quote from Captain Eddie Cullum in Arkansas:
"I think the switchboard lit up pretty good," ... "For all the doomsdayers,[sic] that was definitely the end of the world." (Why did 3,000 blackbirds drop dead from the sky?, Jeannie Nuss,Associated Press, via Register Guard, January 4th, 2011

Back to the Register Guard's reprint of the Associated Press article Why did 3,000 blackbirds drop dead from the sky?, Jeannie Nuss, Associated Press.
This story is interesting for many reasons. First of all, the birds "rained out of the darkness onto rooftops and sidewalks..." at midnight, when residents celebrating New Year's Even noticed the birds falling to their deaths. Do the blackbirds and other birds included in this event fly at night? Not usually. The implication is made that they do, but later in the article, it's stated the birds were "rousted" from their tree top perches, which implies they were sleeping and rudely awakened by fireworks.

In esoterica, and even in what we call the real world, there are no coincidences. These events are certainly Fortean, but they are also clear signals that something alarming is occurring. Whether it's military, alien, or climate/earth related, these events are not only clear signals to wake up and pay attention, but to engage and take responsibility, even if it that means responding very differently from the "Huh, yeah, weird", body shrugging response being witnessed.

And, as a Trickster like response to all this; just as I was typing the last of the above, I heard a few loud firecrackers go off on my street.

More Bird Falls; Cover-Up's Begun?

Posted at my blog Animal Forteana; more news of birds falling to their deaths. Or rather, according to some sources, the birds are already dead, up in the sky -- their internal organs damaged due to "blunt force" and that's what caused them to fall to the ground. This suggests, possibly, weapons technology, sub-sonic or ... who can say. More bird falls; one in Louisiana, and an unconfirmed report from Manitoba.
