John McCain, among others, is behind this bill that considers the United States a "battlefield" and would allow the military to detain, without charges, without a reason, without warrants, anyone , anywhere. That anyone and anywhere includes you and me.   1. An amendment, designed to prevent the US military from detaining individuals without charges or trial, was proposed to the bill in question, the National Defense Authorization Act. The amendment was rejected by the Senate. This rejection is in spite of what was reported by the ACLU as statements from the Secretary of Defense, the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the FBI and the head of the Justice Department's National Security Division that indefinite detention provisions are harmful and counterproductive. Opportunities nonetheless remain for the bill to be amended or squelched, including a possible White House veto. Read more at:
