Eugene (KMTR) - The city of Cannon Beach is moving forward with plans to build a first of its kind tsunami safe structure.More here.
On Monday a model of the structure was put to the test at the Oregon State University Tsunami Wave Basin.
The ten thousand square foot building would be resistant to the forces of a nine-point two magnitude earthquake, and tsunami that follows.
It would also serve as a vertical evacuation shelter.
